About Zim Trippy

"Zim Trippy, born Tatenda Manjengwa, is an artist and rapper whose work transcends conventional boundaries, inspired by the transformative power of psychedelics and the spiritual teachings of pioneers like Ram Dass, Timothy Leary, Ken Kesey, and Kilindi Iyi. Growing up in Aylesbury, UK, Zim’s musical  journey began at the age of 13 when he discovered his talent for rapping. He has been an artist and drawing for as long as he could remember and will forever find ways to express his inner world and perspective through the medium of art.

At 18, Zim had his first psychedelic experience with 110ug of LSD, an event that profoundly shifted his perception and creative direction. Influenced by Ram Dass’s teachings on mindfulness and presence, Zim’s art and music invite audiences to 'be here now'—to fully immerse themselves in the moment and explore the depths of their own consciousness. Timothy Leary’s advocacy for the therapeutic potential of psychedelics informs Zim’s mission to use his creativity as a tool for personal and collective transformation.

Kilindi Iyi’s work on high-dose psilocybin mushrooms and African spirituality has deeply influenced Zim’s understanding of psychedelics as gateways to ancient knowledge and spiritual growth. This perspective aligns with the rich traditions of African and Kemetic spiritual systems, which emphasize the interconnectedness of all life, the exploration of the self, and the pursuit of wisdom.

Channeling the communal spirit of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters, Zim Trippy founded Torus Grove, a production company and creative network dedicated to fostering artistic growth and raw expression. Through his vibrant, kaleidoscopic artwork and soul-stirring music, Zim Trippy seeks to inspire others to explore their inner worlds and embrace the limitless possibilities of the human spirit.

Drawing on the profound spiritual systems of Africa and Kemet, Zim’s work embodies a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment, encouraging others to reconnect with their ancestral roots and embrace the wisdom of ancient traditions. By blending these diverse influences, Zim Trippy creates a unique and compelling narrative that resonates with a global audience, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the transformative power of art, music, and spirituality."

Welcome to the world of Zim Trippy, the artistic moniker of Tatenda Manjengwa. I am a Zimbabwean-born, UK-raised rapper, record producer, and artist, and I’m excited to share my journey and creations with you. Growing up in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, just an hour north of London, I found my passion for music and art at a young age.

My Journey

My musical journey began at the age of 13, inspired by my older cousin and an English lesson where I first discovered my talent in a battle rap/poetry slam. That moment ignited a spark, revealing the potential I had in crafting words and rhythms. Influenced by musical legends such as Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu, and Lauryn Hill, I’ve developed a unique sound that resonates with depth and authenticity.

Artistic Influences

Beyond music, my artistry is deeply inspired by the striking works of Gabriel Moses and Jean Michel Basquiat. Their creativity and bold expression have profoundly shaped the way I present my art through various mediums. My journey into altered states and psychedelics has also led to a quest for spiritual growth, which continues to influence my work today.

The Mission

My mission is to create works of art that use creativity as a tool to express different aspects of my lived experience while exploring transpersonal states. I aim to be a vessel for the creative spirit that runs through all of us, using my art to connect and inspire.

Torus Grove

In addition to my solo projects, I founded Torus Grove, a production company and creative network that serves as a home for all my creative endeavors. Torus Grove is more than just a production company; it's a tribe of like-minded individuals dedicated to artistic growth and raw expression. Through collaborations and community projects, Torus Grove embodies the spirit of creativity and unity.
